Rogers, OK, Fire Department member Paul Lynn was working a shift as a master paramedic firefighter when he received a horrifying call from his wife.
"She was at home with our 5-year-old son," Lynn told 5 News. "She had that certain tone of voice. I knew something was wrong, and she said the house was on fire."
Lynn's wife said she heard their two dogs barking, and when she went to look, the entire back porch was on fire.
She grabbed their son, went through the front door, let the dogs out, and called 9-1-1.
When Lynn, who was working an hour away from his Spiro home, got home, the house was destroyed.
"All I cared about was whether my wife and kid are good. The house is a thing, cars are a thing ... The only thing that matters is that they're OK," Lynn said.
A GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of the Lynn family, where anybody who wishes to help them on their road to recovery can donate.
